I am a local girl who lives in a tourist town, an expensive tourist town. This is my attempt at finding and discovering family and budget friendly Jackson Hole experiences that can keep my family happy, my wallet full and my time well spent. Let the adventures begin...

Adams Canyon
Adams Canyon; The Dillon Way.
This was one of my favorite hikes of all time. To those familiar with Adams Canyon you will know that it is not for the faint of heart. The kids are aware of the difficulty and steepness of this hike, so when faced with the known they (Lucy) chose to take their own route.... which proved more adventurous but far more difficult. Enjoy.

Sheep Mountain 7-28-12 (Sleeping Indian)
An infamous mountain to climb here in Jackson is Sheep Mountain, known to locals as Sleeping Indian. Honestly why not, who would pass up a chance to sit on top on a well known land mark. There are two trails to summit Sheep Mountain, one from the Flat Creek Trail Head (7 miles round trip) from the National Elk Refuge, and the other from Red Hill campground just past Slide Lake (11 miles round trip). We chose the shorter of the two routes. We didn't make it to the summit, we only went on for a few miles until we passed Flat Creek Ranch. It was getting cloudy and looked like rain, and the top of a mountain is not where I would choose to be so we turned back

Craters of the Moon 7-13-12
Craters of the Moon is one of our all time favorite National Parks. The lava tubes and caves are some of the most amazing places to explore and the access that summer provides is much welcomed. This is an extremely small park and thus it is capable to explore it fully in just a day. I believe that anyone who visits this park must must must enter a cave, Indian Tunnel is by far my favorite.
